1/2 MARATHON UPDATE #1

With less than 40 days now until I run my first 1/2 marathon I thought I'd finally do an update post. As mentioned in my initial post on it, I love running and sports. I always have. So when I signed up for a 1/2 marathon I knew that it would take a far bit of training in order to get myself ready for the 13 mile race.

In the first couple of weeks I probably didn't train as much as I should have but in more recent weeks I've started to pick up the training slightly and I'm slowly building my long runs at the weekend in order to prepare myself for the final run. Alongside my training I also decided that I wanted to start a run streak; running at least 1 mile a day, inspired by Amy Lawerson (Associate Health and Beauty Editor for ELLE magazine) and the whole of the ELLE running club. On the 4th March I began my streak and as of this post going up (25th March) I'm still sticking at it with 22 days now ticked off.

I'm pleased with my pace at the moment around (10 minutes/pm) so I'll be pleased if that is my pace on race day. I think I'll do one more update before the actual race and I'll be sure to do a post about it once I've completed it!
If you have any tips send them my way! Have you run/or planned to run a half marathon?

EXMOUTH COFFEE

Last Friday I was out taking photographs for the Iconemesis Blog (make sure to check it out) and one of the places I visited along the way was a coffee shop called Exmouth Coffee. It was one of the nicest coffee shops I have visited and am already planning on my next trip.

Around a five minutes walk from Aldgate Tube Station (or Aldgate East is also nearby) Exmouth Coffee is the perfect stop to grab something to drink or a bite to eat. There is no sign for shop so make sure to keep an eye out for it as you're walking down the street (it's situated next to the gallery so it's not too hard to miss!). The large glass front to the shop allows you to peer in at the cafe and see all the amazing looking food on offer. From savory to sweet snacks, as well as freshly pressed juices there is a lot of tasty looking dishes on offer. In terms of price it's reasonable, it's slightly more expensive that some similar places but the cafe is such a nice atmosphere and the service is great, it's definitely worth that little bit extra. I had a brownie and fresh apple juice, both tasted amazing and I would definitely recommend them. I also had my eye on the salads and huge meringues that were on display in the window.

I'd highly recommend visiting Exmouth Coffee if you're in the Aldgate area and looking for something to eat or drink. Are there any other independent coffee shops you would recommend in London?

LONDON FASHION WEEK A/W 2014 DAY 5

*Sorry this last post was super late! I still wanted to get this last day of LFW up so decided to post it.*

Some of the highlights from the final day of London Fashion Week

Barbara Casasola's collection showed some of my favourite pieces from the day. The designs were kept classic and uniformed in their silhouettes. The shapes created were a more basic design, but it really worked nicely to create a nice clean collection that worked well as a whole. I loved the high necklines and the long lengths of the pieces. Many of the pieces has different textures and layers to the designs adding an interesting lift to the collection. The color of the pieces were kept fairly mutual in the color palette. One of my favourites was a vibrant, purple jumpsuit (far right). I featured a high neckline and button details which created a uniformed look.

Osman was another designer that I hadn't heard of before. I will definitely be checking back in with designer in future seasons to check out the latest collections from them. The shapes of the pieces were kept quite unstructured with there not being that much shape to the designs. The color palette consisted of both brighter colors contrasting alongside black. The black was used to add a base piece and color to some of the outfits. Bolder patterns and colors were the contrasted against this basic piece in order to provide a variation among the pieces.

Simone Rocha created a bold collection with stand out designs. The shapes of the pieces varied throughout the collection, with some having a sleeker silhouette. Other pieces cinched in at the waist before flaring out to create a dramatic skirt. The color palette consisted of blacks, golds and red. The mixture of textures create a beautiful collection. I loved the checked design that was used among many of the pieces. It worked really nicely in both the solid design as well as in the design that featured sheerer cut outs (far right). Overall, I really liked Simone Rocha's collection, it offered a large amount of interesting designs and was a well rounded collection.

Marques' Almeida's was a more relaxed affair to other pieces we have seen during the London Fashion Week. It featured a range of loose fitting pants and top pieces. Many of the outfits contained matching pieces in the same style and pattern. I loved the hair look for this collection. The colors were kept fairly basic, it was the patterns that really added a dimension and another layer of interesting to this collection. With textured, messy and a bed head style to the hair, it really added to the more casual look of this collection. This was definitely a collection that offered something different to the usual more put together style that is shown at London Fashion Week. It was nice to see something more casual and simple, shape and style wise, on offer.

Summary
Another great day from London Fashion Week and a strong number of collections to finish this series of collections that have been showing at London this week.
Thanks very much for reading this short series of posts. What were you favorite collections from London Fashion Week?

SUNDAY SUMMARY #57

An early summary this week as I haven't done one for a while. Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I've got some drafted and ready to go so a few should start appearing over the next week or so!
- I took a walk around London on Friday in the most gorgeous weather (which luckily has stayed!). I headed for the Brick Lane area, started at Exmouth Coffee (a post coming on that soon), and had the most amazing brownie ever. I then hoped on the tube, after walking around Spitalfields and Brick Lane, and headed down to to London Bridge. Walking up to HMS Belfast I then turned around and ended up walking all the way back down to Leicester Square. It was such a beautiful walk in this weather.
- As for the rest of week, I've had some classes at university and also played the last netball match of the year as the seconds team. It was a brilliant match and playing outside in this weather was just amazing.

Hope you've all had a lovely week and that you are enjoying the lovely weather!

35MM FILM CAMERA PHOTOGRAPHY

After using my film camera (Canon AE-1) over my Christmas break from university I recently developed my film. Yesterday, I scanned the images into the computer and finally saw how my shots had turned out, so thought I'd share some of them. Some are taken back near my home, whilst others were taken when I came back to London in the New Year.

If you want to see anymore photographs from or a post about my film camera, then let me know.
